BIography 
Afiah Bey (formally known as Melody Bell) was born in Dallas, Texas.  As a child she listened to stories told by her mother family members.  She developed a love for teaching which led to a ten year teaching career with the Dallas Public Schools as a Special educator.

Afiah loved telling stories so much she became a Griot (gree-o) traveling across the the Southwest, U.S.A. storytelling and captivating everyone with her poems and songs. Afiah was featured on WFAA Channel 8 "Family 1st.", FOX Channel 4 "Insights" and a number of special interest stories in the Dallas Morning News and other news and print publications.

Mission
To give to the community an understanding and importance of the Griot/storyteller.  A Griot (gree-o) tells the history of a people through stories, songs, rhythms, theatre, dance and visual arts.  Participants self-esteem will be enhanced as they learn and listen to stories which teach moral and values
